Mission #225: Repair Despair

USS Maxwell, NCC-21873, is a Nova-class science and survey vessel based out of Pinastri Colony on the Second Life Grid. We are currently a mission of exploration in the Hapke Cluster, an open star cluster of some 10,000 star systems. We are open to new crew! Please inquire with Captain Nora Gerhadsen or with Commander April Coswell. We are particularly interested in Science, Engineering and Operations officers.

Roleplay Times: Thursdays 6pm to 8pm SLT
Commanding Officer: Captain Nora Gerhadsen
Executive Officer: Commander April Coswell

Moderators: Nora Gerhadsen, JayceRebel, April Coswell

Mission Name: Repair Disrepair

Story Concept: April Coswell/Jayce Rebel

The following information is IN CHARACTER information.

Location: Deep Space

Alert Status: green

The USS Maxwell is hosting a difficult peace negotiation between two species of this area - and tests are currently being run to determine whether they are truly that different as they say they are. They seem to believe we are colorblind because we see them the same color.

When we wrap up these negotiations, I have scheduled a stop at the Fellaba IV R&D station to have our multiphasic sensor array audited. Although we have managed to make the system work since Dr. Jennifer Twilight installed the array - somewhat problematically - a few years ago, I would like for us to be able to use it to full capacity without fearing that we'll blow a row of power relays.

OOC Notes:

- This notecard was done after the fact. It was kind of a doozy, especially at the end!

* These duties are very general ideas, feel free to add to them and fill things in.

--> We are a science and survey ship. That means we find weird stuff sometimes. Create! Let's see what we all can come up with!

* Please allow people to do their jobs and be thoughtful of the fact that people join departments and divisions to do their jobs. Try not to step on their functions. If you have something to help someone (advise that they may or may not follow) instead of saying something publically, it might be more useful to IM them and discuss it with them.

* Departments should be working together. There should be enough possibilities for everyone as long as they all work together and cooperatively. Do not be afraid to do OOC planning in IM.

* This is more or less freeform, but please don't have it as "Q did this". We need to get ourselves out of our own jams (not that this has ever been a problem with this crew).

Remember that the point of all this is to have fun! Good luck and have at!

Alert Status: green

As previously noted, the USS Maxwell was serving as the venue for ceasefire talks between the people of Partegien II and those of Patrax Prime. The peace talks were being conducted by my XO, Captain Rebel - but the two diplomats managed to exhaust even hir patience. Hence, I saw fit to intervene. The two ambassadors were in sickbay, where tests were being conducted to validate or invalidate their assertion that they were fundamentally different from one another due to the color of their skin.

I inflicted something of a tongue-lashing on the two diplomats, hoping to get them to band together in anger at my attitude. In the end, this proved unnecessary - having them remove their eye gear showed them that they were, in fact, the same species. It quite literally changed their world view.

After seeing the diplomats off the ship, we set a course for the Fellaba IV R&D station, where I planned to get our multiphasic sensor array independently audited. From the very first contact with station commander H'sarr, however, we have started having doubts about whether this station is really as cutting-edge as we were told it was. I sense a bit of sloppiness... and the technician assisting us sounds a bit... off?
