As Admiral and Commander in Chief, it is my pleasure to welcome you to United Federation Starfleet!
United Federation Starfleet, or UFS for short, started as a dream . . . a dream to realize and bring the vision of Gene Roddenberry to life within the realm of Second Life. Here, within this 3D environment, you can become a Federation citizen, Starfleet crewmen or a commissioned officer within one of the most respected, most organized, and most active Star Trek organizations available.
Based on the planet of Pinastri in the Delta Quadrant, we have built our home with the full intention of embracing Starfleet’s original vision of peaceful exploration, scientific discovery, and finding new life and new civilizations. Colonization of the Delta Quadrant is UF Starfleet’s newest frontier. Given full autonomy by the Federation council on Stardate 060801.09 we embrace the spirit of brave explorers that have come before us and stand up to the challenge of building a new world as we grow the United Federation of planets.
UFS offers a highly organized and renown Academy, which includes a vast selection of courses that will help you learn a variety of skills and helpful information that will get you started as a contributing member within the Delta Quadrant.
Once you graduate, you can don your uniform, and become part of the Starfleet family, UFS offers a vast array of postings. You can:
· Serve at Headquarters and help with the growth and development of the UFS through your chosen Branch. · Take a posting on a station, facility, or outpost and partake in the day-to-day responsibilities of an officer assigned to one of these locations. · Be assigned to one of our Starships of the Line, where you explore the vast reaches of the Delta Quadrant, discover new life and new civilizations, and defend our home from those that would not choose freedom as a way of life.
In addition to these postings, you can also:
· Become part of Red Squad · Join volunteer groups like Mission Command and Support Services. · Assist CARE with the creation and running fun and charitable events. · Attend promotion ceremonies and other official functions. · Participate in parties and other regular social events. · Contribute or be a part of special events, like the Starfleet Beauty Pageant or our Burning Life celebration.
And much, much, much more! So, what are you waiting for? If this is your first time visiting our site, sign up with Second Life and join us in the Delta Quadrant. If you’ve been a member for a while, contact your Branch Head, or a member of Command to find out how else you can get involved within the group.
Don’t let this opportunity to live the life of a Starfleet officer pass you by! Reach for the stars, and help make the dream possible with the UFS – by becoming Starfleet strong!
Majel Barrett-Roddenberry The First Lady of Star Trek Passes Away
Beloved Friend, Daring Explorer, Unfazed Pioneer. Majel Barret-Roddenberry has been a beacon to Star Trek fans throughout her life as she worked to tear down the walls of sexism, racism, and xenophobia. Always holding a pivotal part in every series, her roles have ranged from an unheralded female first officer in the Cage to the role of Nurse Chapel, Dr. McCoy's beloved assistant. With the introduction of Star Trek: TNG and every subsequent season, it was her voice you heard when the computer was addressed. Her most prolific role however, is that of Lwaxana Troi, the delightfully overbearing mother of Deanna Troi. Her multiple cameos were easily considered a highlight of the series as she bantered with Captain Picard, unfazed even though he spurned her multiple advances. We say goodbye today to someone whose contribution to Star Trek will continue to live on in the hearts and minds of everyone here at UFS.
Like her husband Gene Roddenberry before her, Majel's efforts and ingenuity put forth into the creation and preservation of Star Trek is a major reason our dream is alive today. We salute Majel today and bid farewell to Star Trek's 'First Lady,' sad at her departure, but glad that she has found her place in the stars, her true home.
Majel Barrett-Roddenberry February 23, 1932 - December 18, 2008 may you deal with death how you dealt with life.
