| Biography | |||||
| Mild Telepathic Abilities, typical for El-Aurians.
Alexandria was born in Port Halicarnassus, on Rigel, to (mostly) El Aurian parents. Albeit her human parentage, traces of other civilizations are visible in her physical appearance. Her extended genealogy includes a Kzinti, her materal grandmother, from whom she gets her eyes and a heightened, yet mild, telepathic ability. Although she can only sense strong feelings, she does pick up on the moods and feelings of others more readily than most humanoids. Atlass was the daughter of a trans-planetary oceanologist and a geophysical artist. While she was still young, her parents temporarily emigrated from Rigel, their adopted home, to Terra to study oceanographic patterns. Her parents, who had a great love of classical literature and history, named her Alexandria, after the great Terran conqueror, Alexander the Great. They waited until arriving on Terra for her naming ceremony, where they took her to the city of Alexandria, on the shores of Egypt, also named for her namesake. She spent her childhood years traveling not only the oceans of Terra, but the oceans of many worlds. She gained a deep-seated appreciation of other cultures and influences, with a particular passion for ancient civilizations. In her teenage years, Atlass returned to Terran, with surgical implants to hide her Kzinti eyes. And she stayed, under the guise of a Terran. With surgical implants to mask her Kzinti eyes, she spent several hundred years on Terra as it developed toward warp technology, spending her early years with Bedouin in the Sahara. She married the young sheikh of a nomadic Saharan tribe, Najeeb Ibm al-Saif. They had a daughter, Kareema, who was the jewel of their lives. When her husband died of tuberculosis, she moved to London where she met her second husband, a captain in Queen Victoria's Navy and master of the HMS Musquito, lost in 1888 in a violent thunderstorm off the Cape of Good Hope (Kaap die Goeie Hoop). When her husband did not return from his voyage around the Horn, Alexandria sailed to Cape Town to put his memory to rest in a ritual El Aurian goodbye, bringing her two children there. Her young son, William, died from an infection during the Second Boer War. And, sadly, her daughter died of typhoid on the Transvaal. Her grief was so great at the loss of her third child that she has chosen not to have offspring in the centuries since. Atlass stayed in South Africa a number of years while WWI was brewing in Europe. After the war, she moved to the United States, and found her third husband, a financier who routinely had his own train car on the Empire Builder, for he routinely traveled from Chicago to New York. While Jack volunteered for the army, flying B-17s, Alexandria worked with the OSS in Washington, DC. Hughes died in an air raid in 1944. Atlass left Terra after WWII, yearning for more civilized post-warp cultures. She traveled to many planets on transports, and finally settled on Vulcan to attend a Vulcan institute for enhancing her empathic abilities. There, she met Solus, her fourth husband. Bonded closely, she and Solus were hardly apart during their 197 year marriage, working closely as diplomatic envoys. When Solus died of natural causes, Alexandria left Vulcan, traveling deeper into space. After living on several other worlds, she met Illuminos, a Deltan, as she was touring Federation installations and thinking about joining Starfleet. Putting her career thoughts aside, she helped Illuminos research the influences of combined Deltan and Vulcan telepathic abilities, while serving as a Deltan negotiator and special envoyt. Illuminos died of natural causes in 2355. Atlass's parents, a brother, and a sister were assimilated or killed while trying to escape the Borg invasion of El-Auria. One of her brothers is lost, but presumed dead. Meanwhile, Atlass, still considered a young El Aurian, has decided to pursue a career in Starfleet. To that end, she recieved her Academy appointment from the Deltan Ambassador.
