Biography

BenjaminBastian Hermans was born on Romulus in 2385 as the son of a Tal Shiar agent and a Starfleet Diplomat. His mother, who was posted on Romulus as her diplomatic assignment, where she met Aehkhifv Lhaithra tr'Tarik, an apparent member of an avarage house, engaged in farming.

His parents fell in love with each other, but Benjamins mother wasn't aware, that the whole love was just a game, initiated by the Romulan Tal Shiar, in order to get access to information about the Federation and its diplomatic course of action.

Just about some years later, Ben was born in the Romulan capital. He lives for about fours years on Romulus, when the assignment of his mother had come to an end and she was ordered to return to earth. Immediately his father claimed that he would be his rightful son and that he would stay on Romulus to become an influential member of the house of Tarik. At the same time it also got revealed, that Ben's father was a Major of the Tal Shiar, who then tried to get his mother executed.

Ben and his mother however were able to flee from Romulus, boarding a civil freighter that was orbiting the planet to pick up some cargo. Some months later Ben and his mother arrived back on Sol, where they returned to Canada - the birthplace of his mother.

His father was never seen again, but Ben's mother was always afraid that he might come to look for her and his son. She knows about the capabilities of the Tal Shiar and her fears were surely justified. Ben in the meanwhile, while keeping an extensive interest for his Romulan roots along with a strong bond towards the Romulan culture and traditions joined Starfleet Academy and applied for a posting in the Delta Quadrant. He saw his chance in this, to move something while at the same time he would be out of range of the Tal Shiar. Even though Ben has an extensive interest in Romulans and is living up to their culture and traditions as much as possible, he never attempted to return to them and does in general not agree with several actions and steps taken by the Romulan government. He does however hope that he will be able to return one day, in peace and to a changed Empire.

Benjamin has grown up nearly in complete wealth and peace. During is stay on Romulus, he learned the Romulan language and learned about Romulan culture, traditions and politics. He was eager to join the Romulan Star Service and travel to the stars. His family didn't belong to the most rich ones on Romulus, but however have been of enough wealth to provide Ben with everything he needed.

The peace got only interrupted once and for a short time, when he and his mother had to flee from Romulan execution. They returned to Canada on earth, where Ben now learned about human traditions and culture. He eventually decided however, that he wishes to be more Romulan than human, living up to Romulan traditions and standards as much as possible.Along with his mother he had ben able to provide vital information about Romulans to the Federation. Later on Ben eventually joined the Starfleet Academy.
