After being rescued from the planet by the USS Fabricius, an Olympic Class Hospital Ship, the crew of the Republic find themselves with an uneasy homecoming, UFS is in a full blown engagement with EDC and do not have the resources to mount a rescue back to the planet to recover Chief Engineer Luna Republic.
After numerous debates with UFS Command and a general reprimand for the loss of the USS Republic-C, the crew return to SS Helmut Kohl who can only spare them one ship, a small due to be decommissioned space frame of a New Orleans Class Starship. With minimal systems, the crew of the USS Republic must re-enter Sector 009F and return to the planet in order to rescue Luna.

Events
The USS Expanse departed for the Class O World where the USS Republic-C has crashed in order to recover components and First Officer Luna Republic who had been trapped within the damage saucers computer core. Lieutenant Leo Ravenheart joined the Republic crew from UF Starfleet Command to coordinate the multi-ship recovery operation.
The USS Expanse was equipped with minimal shields and weapons, an aged warp drive and various other underpowered systems as it was in the process of being decommissioned from service to UFS. Chief Engineer, Ensign Kaleaon Resident came up with a daring plan to use the USS Expanse and the USS Aegis to expand their warp field around the area of the planet that the Republic saucer was located, actively reducing the gravitational pull of the planet so that the Intrepid Class Starship USS Amundsen could tractor the saucer out of the ocean.
En route, the crew participated in a number of tactical training programmes led by 1st Lieutenant Brainydude101 Resident who provided target practice and tactical simulations were run on the bridge to increase the ship efficiency incase of danger. The crew preformed admirably and continuous scans for hostile vessels were made while approaching the system.
Once arriving at the planet, Doctor Data Axel beamed up a sample of one the infected Renown crew confined behind a forcefield in Sickbay and proceeded to begin an analysis of what had caused this with Chief Science Officer, Lieutenant (J.G.) Shon Tempest assisting the Doctor and Brainydude101 Resident providing security. It was discovered that this virus was originally a program designed to seed the primordial soups of many different worlds, created by the Preservers. However something had gone wrong and the virus caused a violent reversion within the DNA of civilised species, so the Preservers created an artificial world with a massive gravitational pull to keep it contained. Further scans revealed that the subject could not be saved but Doctor Axel took a sample of the virus for UF Starfleet Medical to analyse when they returned.
Meanwhile, on the Bridge, Commander Orici was successful with Lieutenant Ravenhearts help in coordinating the other ships to set up the expanded warp field and pull the saucer up into the atmosphere. The computer core of the Republic-C was downloaded and Luna Republic was salvaged with no signs of file degradation. The USS Aegis began to tow the damaged saucer back to SS Helmut Kohl for salvage and the Expanse proceeded with them.
