Biography
Dinero was born to Earth citizens, Euro and Yen Outlander, on July 4th, 2365.

In these months Euro and Yen were celebrating the first years of their marriage. Their time was joyfully spent traveling the expanses of the Alpha quadrant, aboard the runabout SS Ruble. He was a welcome addition to their small crew of one, Pilot John Q. Rhodes, Euro's childhood friend. The Ruble's mission was a simple one, if not so simply achieved more often than not. The Euro's bounced between the more fledgling members of the Federation, brokering deals for Euro's father's (Leonard M. Outlander) merchant company Outlander Enterprises. Leonard's company was founded despite the fact that in these enlightened times, he could have spent his life safely and happily on Earth. As he so often explained to Euro his philosiphy was, "A man must make a way in this universe for himself and his family. I choose to help new worlds, make their own way in this universe."

As Dinero metamorphed through the stages of babe, boyhood, youth and then young adult, so did the role of the Ruble. One ship became two, and then later the Ruble grew into the flagship of a small fleet, of runabouts and freighters. Eventually as time always does with mere 'objects', the Ruble was replaced as flagship by a newer, larger more able to defend the fleet vessel. Honoring the faithful vessel so near to the Outlander's hearts, this newest vessel was commissioned the SS Rubles. So did the place that John Rhodes held in the company and family. Becoming godfather, and Chief of Operations for the company and fleet. He considered his most important role to be the one young Dinero chose himself, first friend, and mentor. It was John that first coined Dinero's nickname "Lattie".

Although it was always evident that he spoke the name Lattie with pride his thick brogue almost made it sound like "Laddie". Perhaps this was intentional as it was in fact what John had started out calling the young boy, laddie. As with most nicknames this one was coined by accident, or one of those curious arrows in the paths of fate. Even in his youth Dinero already had a penchant for acquiring and increasing his stores of Latinum. His father jokingly sometimes said wistfully to Yen, "are you sure there wasn't a tryst with a Ferengi way back then?" His family would devise small games or lessons for Lattie, and invariably after a bit he would either say, "There is no Latinum in this for me", or "How much Latinum is there in this for me?". one day John replied in an alliterative fit of exasperation, "Latinum, latinum, latinum, is this all that yer love in life lattie?". As only one of those you had to be there moments can do this brought on a fit of uproarious laughter from all parties. Thus the nickname Lattie was born and carried all the way into Dinero's manhood.

As another of the curious arrows of fate would have it, it was this very penchant for acquiring Latinum that proved his family's undoing. After much angry discussion, Euro allowed Lattie to coerce him into breaking his one credo, "We are honest merchants and that means, we don't make deals with Orion's and we absolutely NEVER smuggle." However to Dinero's credit, the smuggled "cargo" itself most likely swayed, his own course of action as well as that of his father's. With the bargain with Satan, or Tlelaylak as the Orion called himself struck, they prepared to make their way to their destination in the Klingon outworlds near Khitomer and their date with Fate. Along with the innocuous cargoes aboard freighters of ores, equipment and other supplies, Yen's escort ship carried the smuggled cargo. Disguised as members of the already all female crew, Orion slave girls performed the menial tasks done normally by Yeomen neccessary to any vessel.

Entering the planetary system at sublight speeds, the fleet was attacked by Ferengi marauders. Led by an Orion who double crossed Tlelaylak's trade alliance, intent on capturing the fleet and cargo. Euro was killed defending the fleet, along with many others who comprised the members of the Corporation. Sacrificing their lives they did succesfully defend the fleet. All of the hijacking vessels were destroyed save one. In an effort to split the forces of the attackers Yen escaped into a nearby Nebula. Closely followed by the Orion turncoat chasing the cargo everyone knew they were really after. Having assumed the worst after waiting one Terran month, at the prearranged rendesvous point, John and Dinero made a pact. Selling off all that remained of the vessels and cargo, the funds were split. Dinero booked passage into the Delta quadrant to escape the inevitable vengeance of Tlelaylak, and learn all he could in the renowned United Federation Starfleet. John remained behind to search for Yen, or as he vowed in his brogue to Dinero. "Lattie,at the very LEAST we will find out what happened to your mother. As for that bloody Orion, Haggis Ay'll make for my Targ, out of what is left of him".
