Other Information

Fluidic Borg Vessels have one known weakness, their hull is reactive, meaning the more force (resistance) and greater energy thrown at them will result in their armour reinforcing. Phasers MUST be set to 1 - 1000th power in order to do damage to their hull exerting as little energy as possible.

History and Politics

In 2381, the Borg Collective in the Milky Way Galaxy were destroyed by the Cealier, they were able to destroy the Collective and free all who had been assimilated and forced to commit atrocities. However, unknown to the Federation, some Borg survived.

These Borg were in Fluidic Space, fighting their hopeless war against Species 8472 in a fleet of ten Cube-Class vessels. These vessels were heavily damaged during the engagement with Species 8472 who had believed that they had destroyed them and retreated back into Deep Fluidic Space.

Unable to hear their Collective, these Borg shut down aimlessly amongst the infinite fluid wastes of Species 8472's domain. During the battle, Species 8472 had damaged the central plexis of the lead Cube which cut all the other ships off from each other and damaged the memory of how to re-enter the Milky Way.

Over the course of five years, these Borg entered a deep regeneration cycle as they used their Collective power to cure their individual vessels, this disconnection from each other had a unique effect and damaged the cortical nodes of all the Borg aboard the ten vessels. This led them to serve the Borg as their individuality began to surface.

They wondered aimless through Fluidic Space, searching for a source of input when they encountered a damaged Species 8472 bioship with one lifesign aboard. This member of Species 8472 was suffering from the effects of an unknown plague which severely impaired its immune response.

As a result the Borg were able to assimilate it, realising this as an opportunity for knowledge. The now assimilated Species 8472 member was not able to resist the Nanoprobes due to the comprimisation of its immune system, it became the first of its species ever to be assimilated by the Borg.

However, realising the threat, its cells released a nerve toxin which acted fast to kill it rather then let itself be left in the hands of the Borg. This toxin had the unfortunate effect of activating its telepathic centres of the its brain before it died causing a subconscious link to be created between all the Borg in the collective and transferring its knowledge them.

Using the knowledge obtained by this Species 8472 member, these Borg were able to harvest the ample bio-matter found in Fluidic space in order to create cubes. Without any need for physical augmentation, some Borg removed their mechanical appendages, preferring perfection obtained through biological needs.

From 2384 to 2386, the Borg perfected their nanotechnology, manipulating it at such a level that they could effective suppress the immune system of any species for assimilation. Without the need for their technological component, the Borg abandoned their ships in favour of biologically engineered vessels. Their assimilation process evolved through subconscious manipulation, using the nanites to create an "organic" interlink node in the hippocampus area of the brain.

Despite these incredible breakthroughs and outstanding technology, these Borg were still dependant on nano probes for all of their bio-functions.

In 2386, the I.S.S. Voyager, from S.S. Pegasus became trapped in Fluidic Space and located one of their abandoned Borg cube. Ensign Shon Tempest, Chief Science Officer was able to create a telepathic link with the cube in order to extract the much needed information of how to open a Quantum Singularity back into the Milky Way. This had the unfortunate effect of alerting the Borg on how to use their technology to open a rift.

The U.S.S. Republic B, encountered a Fluidic Borg vessel adrift and seemingly damaged. However it had been revealed that the Borg had been "playing dead" in order to secure and assimilate Commander Orici, Ensign Machelm and Lieutenant Commander Messioptra. They kept these people prisoner for two weeks before being pursued by the Republic.

All three members were forced to help the Borg attempt to assimilate the vessel with organic technology. This attempt was halted when the crew of the U.S.S. Republic discovered that these type of nanoprobes were sensitive to Omicron particles and denaturate them, freeing their comrades from the Collective.

They were then able to use the knowledge obtained from the collective to destroy the persuing Borg vessel. All three team members experienced power after-images and harrowing Night Terrors for many weeks to come.
