| Sovak was born on Vulcan and lived with his parents, both officers on board an experimental federation starship. During a classified undocumented mission both of Sovak’s parents were classified as being missing when they attempted to communicate with an unknown alien vessel. Sovak and three others are the only surviving persons from that encounter. Sovak and the other three were rescued by a federation freighter heading back to Earth.
Not knowing what to do with Sovak, the federation allowed a human couple to adopt Sovak and raise him as their own. It was his Earth parents (Captain Jonathan Tyrellium, and Lt. Janet Tyrellium) that sparked Sovak’s interest in Starfleet. At age 15 earth years, Sovak was sent to Vulcan to learn what it is to be Vulcan. Sovak never underwent the Kolinahr as his life on Earth he did not want to purge these feelings he had of this life there. He feels that it is not logical to remove that which happened. Sovak took on the name his Earth parents gave him (Markus Tyrellium), and at the age of 23 he joined the United Federation of Starfleet after heading to the Delta Quadrant. Markus being Vulcan looks traditional, however everyday he fights himself in his mind about how he should be, he has great conflict within himself. There are times when he does express emotion, however it is very rare. | ||||||||||||||
