Below are the billets available in the Branch of UFS Operations.

OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT

The operations department is responsible for keeping ship/station systems functioning properly, rerouting power, bypassing relays, and doing whatever else is necessary to keep the ship operating at peak efficiency.

Chief Operations Officer

Head of the Operations department, s/he is responsible for maintaining ship/station operations, serving as a member of the bridge crew. S/he works closely with the tactical and flight control officers in order to coordinate power allotment.

Assistant Chief Operations Officer

Responsible for assisting the Chief Operations Officer, s/he serves as a backup member of the bridge crew, and often works at the Systems console on the bridge.

Operations Officer

Operations Officers are responsible for keeping the ship/station running at peak efficiency but routing power where needed, monitoring deflectors and sensors, and a variety of other things.

Transporter Chief

Usually an NCO (Non Commissioned Officer) well versed with the transporter and its system, these chiefs work hand-in-hand with the Engineering department, are quick thinkers and skilled at repairing the complex transporter systems aboard any ship/station.

Transporter Officer

Responsible for overseeing other transporter systems on board the ship, and the transporting of crew and cargo to and from planets, ships, etc. These officers assist the Transporter Chief, and are well versed in the repair of transporter systems.

Communications Officer

Responsible for allocating communication channels for use, including internal and external ship communications. Also oversees updating the ship's/station's universal translator, and those built into the combadges, with any new languages and translations as they are made available.

Materials Officer

Responsible for managing the ship/station stores of supplies, the Materials Officer (also known as a quartermaster) has the tough task of making sure that things get where they are needed when they are needed.

HELM/NAVIGATION

Responsible for the navigation and flight control of a vessel and its auxiliary craft, the Helm department includes pilots trained in both starship and auxiliary craft piloting. Note that the Helm department does not include Fighter pilots.

Chief Helm Officer

A department head and member of the bridge crew, the Conn, as s/he is called, is responsible for navigating and piloting the ship during most major encounters, and safely transporting passengers to and from locations inaccessable via transporter via a shuttle or runabout.

Helm Officer

A Helm Officer is required on the bridge at all times; as such, they acts as helmsman and navigator when the Chief Helm Officer is not at the helm, and they also assist their department head by plotting courses, supervising the computer's piloting, and piloting shuttles or runabouts as needed.
