Letter From The Admiral

From the desk of the Commander-in-Chief, UF Starfleet

Greetings and Salutations!

It is with joy that I and all the members welcome you to United Federation Starfleet! We hope you enjoy your visit and hope you'd like to join us! We are a group in constant growth and we are always looking for bright and motivated people who want to have fun with us and live the Star Trek dream. We promote tolerance and peace amongst all species so there's no prejudice around here. United Federation Starfleet is what it is today thanks to the people who make it, and the dedication of our members is something extraordinary, no matter what species they belong to!

If this is your first time on UFS lands across the different metaverses, we thank you for your visit! We hope you visit us again soon... if this is not your first time, it is great to see you came back for more!

One thing I'm fond of telling our members is: What you get out of your United Federation Starfleet experience is all up to you. If you are content with just being a member, that's fine. But if you participate actively within the group your United Federation Starfleet experience will be very rewarding. It's all up to you.

Welcome to the United Federation Starfleet family!

Admiral Mike Calhoun
Commander-in-Chief, UF Starfleet

What is UF Starfleet?

United Federation Starfleet members are Star Trek fans from around the world who started initially gathering in SECOND LIFE, to recreate the Star Trek Experience and live the dream of being a part of Starfleet on a daily basis.
One thing that sets us apart from any other Star Trek related group is that UFS is an incorporated enterprise categorized as Not For Profit. This means that we have more resources and vision than you would find in any other Trek-related group in Second Life or other metaverse.

When joining UFS, you will find us very organized, structured and built with a long time vision in mind. If you plan to be ranked Captain in two weeks then UFS is not the place for you. When joining UFS, you know that rank and awards are earned and that takes time. UFS is built with the vision of a Fan Organization combined with the ability to actually live the dream in a more interactive way than in a PBEM or Play by Forum role play. Our main goal is to recreate Starfleet and the Star Trek universe as authentic as possible.

UFS is a Fully Immersive Role Play enviroment but also has a place for people who just want to walk around in a Starfleet uniform Current time is 2385, Post nemesis

UFS is a fast growing organization that constantly expands into the unknown, Currently we have stations in Second Life and OS Grids, but you can also find us in Legend City On line, New World Grid and 3D Rock.

How To Join UF Starfleet

When joining United Federation Starfleet, you will need to fill in a membership application. This is now an online process

Please fill out the ON LINE APPLICATION to join UFS http://spreadsheets.google.com/viewform?formkey=dGFHQmR3ZElHWUxHU1BidHZzY0Y4c3c6MA.

Once UFS aproves your membership application you become a full member in UFS and are expected to follow all Group and SIM Rules

One of the most important questions you have to fill in on your membership application is if you want to become a civilian, a UF Starfleet officer or UF starfleet enlisted. So the first thing you need to do is choose your career path

Ok, I am a UF Starfleet Cadet. Now what?

What do I do at UF Starfleet Academy?

How do I graduate from UF Starfleet Academy?

Step-by-Step Until Graduation

What do I do when classes get cancelled

Ok, I graduated from UFS Academy....now what??

Congratulations you are now graduated from UFS Academy as an Ensign/2nd Lt or a Crewman/Private.

We understand that this is a very dificult time for you going from the daily structure in the Academy to what we call THE FLEET. We want to make sure no one falls through the cracks so it is very important for you to get an assignement right away.

One of the first things to do when you are newly graduated is to make sure you get your first Duty Assignment. It helps if you already have an idea as to where you want to be posted from your Academy Senior Project.

Or, enroll in the UFS Midshipman Program. This is a program that is designed to assist new officers coming from the Academy but do not know where they wish to serve. Graduates no longer part of active missions at the Academy often become frustrated after they graduate because they all too often do not know where to go for their initial Duty Assignment.

The Midshipman Program provides opportunities to explore ships and stations, meet Commanding Officers and sample various positions. To begin to make connections for an initial assignment at the UFS. Midshipmen Program, contact Markus Tyrellium, Director of the Officers Midshipmen program for details.

In the advance that you do not have any assignement 1 week after graduation, and are not interested in joining the Midshipmen program, please contact the Commander-in-Chief, Mike Calhoun.

Leaving UFS

At any given time any member of UFS is free to retire or terminate their membership. In doing so it is important to understand that the way you retire or leave UFS is nefast for the way you can return at a future time. While we certainly understand the desire to leave something behind sometimes, its also important to understand that when leaving UFS your not just leaving another SL group...you are leaving a family. And yes, families do have words and the occasional fall outs but it is important that you first take a step back and cool down before making rash decisions because research done by our Recruitment & Retention division have proven that 85% of the people that leave UFS want to come back within 30 days
