Biography
In the late 1960's Dr Sarina Kaur intiated Project Chrysalis, the eugenic experiment that created the superhumans known as Augments. The Augments were designed to be stronger, faster, more intelligent than a normal Human being, with heightened resistance to energy weapons.

Valerius Swansong was "born" in 1970 and is five times stronger than an average human, his lung efficiency is fifty percent better, his heart muscles are twice as strong, and as a result of DNA resequencing using material from Panthera tigris bengalensis he possesses remarkable agility. As with all Augments, his intelligence is double that of normal Humans. Valerius Swansong was one of the children that was saved from the Atomic Fire that destroyed the complex and scattered the children of Chrysalis. He was sent to live with a family in England. His "Aunt and Uncle" doted upon him, and he showed them how talented and strong he could be, when at the age of 14, he was accepted to Medical School, where he excelled in biological research and microbiology.

Once he completed medical school, he then went on to study Politics, Philosophy and Economics at Cambridge, with a view to becoming a politician to change the chaos of the world he saw around him.

This was when he met Khan Noonien Singh, and agreed to become Director of Communications for the great Khanate to the United Nations. As Director of Communications, Valerius was a gifted orator, converting many of Khan's messages into a political ideology that was accepted by many governments on Earth, especially given that within the Great Khanate, there were no mass executions, no ethnic cleansing and no forced relocation of the general population. Valerius passionately believed in Khan, and was a powerful force in legitimising the politics of the Khanate.

As the Children of Chrysalis warred with each other, he took on the role of Political Advisor to the War Council and agreed to work with Khan's Bio-medical research team, headed by the brilliant biologist Dr Phoolan Dhasal. Dr Dhasal was working on a virulant strain of modified anti-bacterial resistant Streptococcus A that was combined with a necrotizing fasciitis, that would act as an ultimate "final solution" weapon. Both had initially developed by Dr Sarina Kaur and this virus would not affect the augments, as they were engineered against all forms of streptococcus, but it would devastate the remainder of the human population.

Then, in 1996, just prior to the launch of the SS Botany Bay he vanished, along with 91 of the other Augments commanded by Khan. It was discovered in 2267 that he was not amongst those held in stasis aboard the sleeper ship, when the SS Botany Bay was picked up, lost in space, by the USS Enterprise NCC-1701. He suddenly reappeared in 2384, on the colony world of Pinastri in the Delta Quadrant, the subject of a space/time anomaly. According to research undertaken by Commander Gijsjan Broek, the temporal rift or disruption that caused Valerius to arrive in the time and space may have been related to a a Kerr Loop which capacity of transporting material passing through it in both space and time. This phenomena may have been caused by a number of variables, but was a simple case of chance, had he arrived in the area a moment later, or earlier, he would have been unlikely to have been temporally displaced. As a result, Valerius is still 26, to him it was a moment of being shrouded in light before he re-appeared almost four centuries later in the Delta Quadrant. Further research on this is required but given his knowledge of the past and now of this future he is unwilling, and unable, to return to his point of origin.

Following his arrival, and prior to joining Starfleet Academy, Valerius worked as Bar Manager aboard USS Shogun, NCC 73812 where he was met with some suspicion and mistrust at first, as a result of his background, but has developed many friendships and has been learning a great deal about his personal history and working to prove that not all the Children of Chrysalis are the same as Khan. With his background, he decided to join Starfleet Academy, and to serve in Starfleet Medical.

Valerius graduated from Starfleet Academy on 091027, having used his time there to study in a variety of disciplines, and has his request to serve as a Medical Officer aboard the USS Shogun approved. From 091102 to 091209 he acted as a Duty Doctor, USS Shogun, before rising to the position of Vice Chief Medical Officer on 091209.
