Coming up at the end of March: a 9-day fundraiser for Relay for Life in Second Life that aims to provide UF Starfleet members, visitors and guests an opportunity to mingle, enjoy entertainment, learn more about our organization, and have fun.
“Engage: UF Starfleet SpringFest” will run from Saturday March 27 to Sunday April 4th. There will be five theme dances, a ‘radio show’ every morning, several live performers, speakers, a workbee piloting course, and displays created by our members. It’s about connecting, developing relationships, and acknowledging creativity.
United Federation Starfleet currently has 276 members from all over the world, many of whom roleplay Star Trek in Second Life. Our RFL Team, UFS Metamorphosis, has been a long-time participant in RFL in SL, this year we are also designing a sim for the Sci-Fi Con. The Relay for Life season is the most important thing on the calendar for our group, we have lost more than one member to cancer and we have cancer survivors and caregivers among us. We will be immensely grateful for all donations, large or small, in our mission to support the search for a cure.
Everyone is invited to come and enjoy entertainment on the Festival stage, tour the build, fly a workbee, visit our ships and stations in Second Life & 3rd Rock Grid, meet & greet other Star Trek fans, and generally have a good time. Live performers to date include: JC Farstrider, Trav McCullough, Mahogany Soulstar and MarqsDesade; the dance troupe from WoodCrest University Performing Arts (WCPA) and the Second Life Cheerleading Squad (SLCS); along with DJs Hal Jordan, Zania Turner and Poison Toocool, over 24 hours of music will be provided during the week.
“Engage: UF Starfleet SpringFest” is organized and presented by the Office of the Chief of Starfleet Communications, with grateful thanks to UFS Computer Operations, UFS Landowners, UFS Joint Chiefs, and the members who are assisting us to produce the event.
